Katharina Maschenka Horn is a Berlin based German dancer, choreographer and teacher.
She studied Dance and Choreography at the ArtEZ - Hogeschool voor de kunsten Arnhem (NL) where she graduated in 2007.
After working as a freelance artist in the Netherlands Katharina returned to Germany in 2009 with the solo creation Pigeonhole, which won the 1st prize in the choreography competition U30 in Tanzhaus Köln (2010).
Since 2010 Katharina is working with Nir de Volff/ Total Brutal (Berlin, D), performing in several creations in Germany, Brazil, Thailand, Macau, Israel, Italy, Russia and assisting in classes / workshops, as well as teaching the Total Brutal use-abuse-method.
2014-2017 Katharina performed at Schaubühne Berlin (D) in the production NEVER FOREVER by Falk Richter and Total Brutal (performed at Venice Biennale 2015).
In 2013, Katharina was selected to be part of the danceWEB Scholarship Program in the frame of Impulstanz Festival in Vienna (A); mentor: Ivo Dimchev (BG).
Since 2008 Katharina works regularly in Albania, taught at the University of Arts Tirana (supported by DAAD) and created five choreographies in collaboration with
the contemporary dance scene of Tirana and the Balkan region. Among other, she worked on the longterm research dance and theater show Jam Burr'!? (The Real Man!?), which was shown in Albania, Kosovo and Macedonia from 2015 - 2018.
2016-2018 Katharina collaborated with the Bosnian-Serbian actor / director Nemanja Mutić (and the musicians Jan Günther (D) and Jan Novosel (HR)) for the show touch of MADNESS, which premiered 2017 in Berlin and toured in Sarajevo (BiH), Zagreb (HR), Astana (KAZ), Belgrade (SRB) and Mostar (BiH).
2018 Katharina was artist in residence at the Goethe Institute Thessaloniki.
Next to offering workshops for dancers / choreographers, Katharina also teaches workshops for actors / directors and also writers, among others at the Summer Scriptwriting Base Bulgaria 2017, Aristoteles University Thessaloniki (GR),
AMTAP Chişinău (MD).
Katharina received support of Goethe Institute, ECF, LLB - Nomad Dance Academy, UNDP, UN Women and Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung among others. Her works were shown in Albania, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Macedonia, the Netherlands, Serbia, Spain and Germany (Tanztage Berlin 2012, euro-scene Leipzig 2014 among others).
